Child Dancer in the Garden of Life< Jessel Miller
Child Dancer in the Garden of Life

A dear friend of mine described the place I am in my life right now and it made so much sense to me. He used the word "Enantiodromia. "

I began my artistic career as a full time painter. 35 years ago I opened the Jessel Gallery and closed the door to being a fulltime creator. Don't get me wrong, I love this Gallery. Yet this last few months I finally have the time to discover who I am as an artist and put my lifetime of seeing and being and honoring other artists to work in my own art. I kept so much of who I am inside because I feared that the art would not sell, hence the gallery doors would not remain open.

Now, every day, I move back and forth from real to abstraction and just let the magical muse meander through the meadows of my mind!

When I first approached other galleries at the beginning of my career, they wanted me to present one look and my "Picassoesque" soul could not be contained. I want to be able to wake up each day and paint whatever I like no matter how different the look is. (See landscape below.)

I am a dancer, a singer, writer and a painter and now I honor all of me and share my heart with all of you.

THANK YOU for listening and sharing your comments that bring me to tears every single day.

Enantiodromia
Enantiodromia occurs when some force or process reaches its maximum tension, which causes it to flip to its opposite.

Enantiodromias involves two elements. The first is that every system or force carries or implies its opposite: dark requires light, tall exists because of short, good is defined by bad. In life, none of us is completely one-sided: good or bad, warrior or nurturer. We all have polar potentials; we just emphasize one pole and suppress the other.

The second element of enantiodromia is that the human psyche is self-regulating. It seeks balance or equilibrium. When one aspect of our personality becomes overbalanced, its opposite will seek expression to restore equilibrium: the more energy we commit to a belief or position, the stronger its counterpart becomes. This extreme one-sidedness creates extreme tension. Eventually, this tension reaches superabundance or “overload,” and we flip to its opposite.

My Thanks to my good friend Reg Harris for his insights. To learn more about his wisdom check out his website which will be live on Friday: https://www.yourheroicjourney.com/

Parrot Princess

Parrot Princess, Jessel Miller
Parrot Princess & the Earth's Soul
Parrot Princess had several revisions and I actually completely changed concept and direction in mid stream.

It started as fish and faces and when I could not see the heart in the work, I plastered paint on it and parrots appeared.

Since my new book, Soulful Voices, is based on the concept that the children save the endangered species and the world itself, I love going to different parts of the world and painting creatures I have never created before.

Parrots have popped into some of my past work, but never like this one.
The little girl is from a South American tribe. I adore the rich colors and warm loving support these birds provide around this child.

I feel the need to assure the children of the world that this too shall pass, and I look to the sky each morning and listen for the waking birds all over the world. They are the Earth's Soul singing a lullaby.

PARROT SYMBOLISM
The parrot spirit animal is a message of celebration. It's a happy expression of all the good things that are happening in your life, and the good things that you have yet to experience. It symbolizes the everyday beauty that you possess.

Parrot Spiritual Animal is the wise teacher of the power of our words, spoken or not spoken, for even the silent words in our mind are driving us forward. They have dominion over our choices and the path we take. Parrot reflect the immense power of our inner mind.

Check out the process I went through to complete this piece.

Horse Dignity

Horse Dignity, Jessel Miller
This image is devoted to the state of Texas which has the largest population of horses (Almost 100,000.)

I quietly placed the shape of the state in the upper left side of the image.(See in bottom image)

The woman represents the indigenous Tonkawa tribe from Texas. Each of the horses has an individual essence and each carries the unique characteristics described below.

My soul, as we walk through this time in history, feels like the free spirit of a horse.

For 35 years I have opened my doors and heart to the world and shared this beautiful Gallery and now the doors are closed but my creative soul is flying free.
I am so grateful I can share these new works of art with all of you and hope you find wings to fly free with me.

Horse Wisdom

"Horse, like Dog and Cat, is one of those animals who has made an alliance with humankind. For thousands of years Horse has helped us to carry our burdens, grow our crops, travel our roads, even fight our wars.

One of the most striking things about Horse is a dignity that is impossible to diminish. Even pulling a plow or bearing the meanest burden, Horse maintains a noble bearing. Horse has shouldered his burdens without surrendering his essential nature.

Even after his thousands of years of servitude when let loose to run wild Horse becomes in a very short time the untamed spirit he was destined to be.

Perhaps this is Horse's greatest medicine, the knowledge that no matter what we have borne in the past, there always exists in us the waiting seed of our true selves. Horse shows us how to carry our burdens with ease and with dignity, but more importantly, he shows us that we are always and forever free."

Elephant Ancient Wisdom

Elephant Ancient Wisdom, Jessel Miller
I was working on a very complicated painting (I will send out when it is complete) and I needed a break.

I pulled out a new piece of paper and this popped off the page so quickly that I felt like a herd of elephants pulled into the paper and demanded a stage.

A beautiful Soul showed up in the middle of the Elephant's head and the tusks became the arms cradling 2 spirits.

The center of the head of the elephant appeared as the shape of Africa. (see first image below that I did not plan on.)

Sometimes the images just tell me where to go and sometimes I led the way. In this instance this Elephant directed my brush.

ELEPHANT MEDICINE

"Elephant’s medicine includes strength, royalty, connection to ancient wisdom, removal of obstacles and barriers, confidence, patience, using education opportunities, commitment, gentleness, communicating in relationships, discernment, intelligence, compassion.

If this is your animal guide, these virtues are a part of your natural character. By applying them in your life soul evolution is accomplished."

Picture
Humanity, Jessel Miller
She is

HUMANITY

This sweet face carries the children close to her heart.

Her arms stretch North, South, East and West.

Her eyes are the compass to follow,

the direction to go as we walk this perilous road all together.

She is day and night, light and dark.

We simply need to reach out and she is there to comfort us.

SHE IS LOVE

and

YOU

are

LOVED

This is the start of the Humanity painting. I thought it was done and felt it was abstracted landscapes here and there on the paper yet felt there was more to be said.

My Wish for you as you Celebrate Easter and Passover is that all your eggs are not in one basket...rather they are floating in space bringing you joy and laughter and spreading good wishes to all.

Every Egg a planet spinning,
There is no end and no beginning.
On this merry-go-round of life,
With all it's joys and all it's strife.

One life we live so make it right,
Don't hold on way too tight.
Spirit source of all earth's treasures,
Nature's greatest gifts and pleasures.

Happy Easter and Passover

New York Spirit

New York Spirit< Jessel Miller

New York Spirit

This piece came from a tiny face I saw amidst the rubble and chaos.

I find the correct direction when I see something that stirs me and I feel at ease going forward.

This was just an eye and white paint and slowly the Universal Child rose from the paper.

This is the New York Spirit Angel. All my prayers are directed at the healing of the epicenter of the
Pandemic of 2020.
This Angel Heals the sick and comes to the souls passing and holds their hands. They are dying alone.

This is the calm, quiet voice in the night helping us face our fears and sorrows.

The Purest Child of Goodness and Light here for all of us.

Angel Spirit leads us to a sanctuary of Silent Relaxation and Peace.
Like the confusion and chaos we are all feeling together I begin my day searching for the truth in this our "hour of need."

My inner voice tells me to look deeply into the paper and slowly eliminate the debris until the message is clear.

We are all one family for the first time in my lifetime. I am so grateful knowing YOU are out there.

I hold your heart in my heart and send my New York Angel to console and soothe your Spirit.

HOPE

Hope Hear Our Prayers Everywhere, Jessel Miller
This painting began as something completely different. (Image to the right) I did not know what the image was about, but it lacked soul.

On my last walk with a friend, before the worldly situation became intense, we spotted 2 egrets and I knew it was a message from Spirit to include them in a painting.

As I developed this piece, letters started appearing on the bottom and suddenly HOPE sprang out and I knew what the painting was saying.

HOPE can mean so much to all of us right now and i would love you to take this word and tell me what you think the letters mean.

HOLD ON PAIN ENDS...
Write me your thoughts

jesselgallery@napanet.net

I kept wondering what she was saying and finally I just splattered paint all over the piece and another face began to emerge.

Although this painting is gone, I am able to make prints of her if you like her. I take these photos as I work for that exact reason. She is Hope 2
"HOPE is seeing light in spite of being surrounded by darkness."

"ONLY in the Darkness can you see the Stars"

Angel and her Hawk

Picture
Angel and her Hawk, Jessel Miller
Picture
This was the start of this painting. It was called The Two Monks. I felt like it needed more and the soul was missing.

I let it sit for weeks and then suddenly I splattered paint on it and the face of an Angel appeared. I did not paint this face so I knew it was meant to be.

My husband looked at the piece and said he saw a hawk below her hand, so I painted his hawk.

That afternoon as he was walking our property a hawk appeared and he called me excited about the coincidence.

I believe all these paintings are guided by "Spirit" and I love when other people see things I do not see and I get to what I call "push" the vision in a new direction.
The paintings are very different in person as one of my clients told me recently. She said they are much more powerful large as opposed to our small screens. I had never thought about their ,impact until she said this.

I look forward to sharing these images in person someday soon.
Picture
The Light around this Angel radiates a brilliant glow. The heart on her chest came from my discovering a huge blob of purple paint on this piece the morning after I painted it and when I dug off the paint, a heart appeared so I painted it gold!
Picture
The hawk symbolizes a need to start looking forward, envisioning your path ahead, and perhaps even preparing for a greater role in life. ... A hawk sighting is a direct message from the angels and the Great Spirit that the time has come to spread your wings, to fly higher, and to expand your vision."

At 5 in the morning April 1, 2020 and Spirit woke me. FAITH OVER FEAR was the message I got and whatever you believe the voice in my head says stay calm, take deep breaths and create something beautiful. It does not take any experience and together we will find a place that has been my home since I was born. It was my safe place, place of worship, devotion and truth's pure light and life line. Take my hand and together we will make it through these stormy seas.

Jessel Painting Lesson One

Here is what I do. I hope you will be inspired by this concept.
I take out a piece of paper or canvas (It does not matter what size I use.)

I put on my favorite music. Pandora Music is free and wonderful.
www.pandora.com

I use Colored Pencils, Crayons, Watercolors, Acrylics Oils (Whatever I have around...even just a pencil or pen)

I find a place to work and put something under the area to protect my space

I close my eyes and think about Butterflies and the shapes and colors they come in.

I go online and google Butterflies in the Images section.

As I look through the images one or more will resonate with me. I print out the images. (If you don't have a printer keep the image on your laptop or computer screen for inspiration)

I place the butterfly somewhere on your paper. NOT IN THE MIDDLE...Usually off the one side or angled.

I begin to either copy the image/images I love or use it as a reference.
I find flowers the same way I find butterflies and surround my "flutterbys" with my magical fantasy garden.

I spend as much time as I like pausing and stepping back from the piece.
If I feel like a word belongs somewhere in the image I try to place it quietly in my creation. I

If you choose to do this exercise Please send me your pieces!

THIS IS YOUR BUTTERFLY MOMENT
